Before You Go

The practical details visitors ask for most.

Check these details before you arrive so parking, check-in, and outdoor conditions are easier to plan around.

Before you go

Plan your arrival

Our events are at various locations throughout the region, depending on the host of each event. Please check our event listings for exact locations and links to the event hosts’ websites.

Sample hours: Friday preview from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Saturday from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, and Sunday from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

Replace this with the official event dates, ticket window hours, program start times, and any early closure notes.

Arrival planning

Park with less guesswork

Parking is organized by the host of each event. Some events charge for parking, while others may not. Please check our event listings for links to the event hosts’ websites, where you can get exact details. Parking is often on grass, so take the necessary precautions and drive slowly if the weather has been wet.

ADA accommodations

Plan for access needs

Most events have ADA-compliant toilets and may have designated handicap parking. Most events may be difficult for the mobility-impaired, however, as there are few if any paved pathways. Mobility aids that can handle dirt and grass are recommended. For those with a sensory disorder, be prepared to make adjustments or bring any helpful items, as our events are loud and busy places.

Concessions

Food and water on site

Many events have food and beverage vendors (food trucks), but this varies by event. We suggest bringing snacks or a picnic if desired, and we highly recommend everyone bring plenty of water, no matter the weather!

What to bring

Prepare for outdoor conditions

Events happen rain or shine, unless particularly heavy rain or dangerous storms roll through. We will repost any weather-related updates to our events on our socials, as will the hosts of each event.

Visitor safety

Stay inside event guidelines

Naturally, our events involve the use of firearms, horses, and open fires, each of which have their own safety guidelines:

Firearms:
Never approach or handle any firearm, including stacked muskets.

Never approach or touch a cannon without explicit permission from the artillery crew working it. Never climb on a cannon or limber (wagon carrying ammunition chest), or sit on an ammunition chest.

Stay behind safety barriers at all times.

Horses:
Never approach or pet a horse unless given permission from its rider.

Give horses and horse-drawn vehicles a wide berth.

Never approach a horse from behind.

Open Fires:

Never approach an open fire, as the heat can be quite intense.

Never discard anything in a fire.

Do not touch any laterns or candlesticks, as mishandling can cause fires.
